It’s always my pleasure to get in touch with you a few times per year to share updates about Just the Goods. And, now that autumn is well underway and 2013 is drawing to a close, I thought it might be helpful to do so now.
First, thank you so much for your patience during my recent four-week closure. I was on my first vacation in almost a decade, and I am thrilled to report that it was everything I’d hoped for and more. Those of you who follow JTG online might have noticed the picture I posted of JTG products ready to be carried to a volcanic hot spring in Japan. So much time spent resting in healing waters was divine! I also enjoyed the opportunity to take in whatever information I could about natural skin, body, and self-care products and practices in Japan and Korea, since many Korean products are available there. But I’m back now and must admit to having created quite a tornado in the lab these past few weeks while catching up with the fabulous orders that arrived while I was away. Thanks again for thinking of JTG while I was away =-)
And now, please continue reading for notes about new products, new and renewed collaborations, holiday shipping considerations, and upcoming local craft sales!
Upcoming Temporary Closures
- November 13 – 15, 2013 – I will be out of town for a few days, and probably without access to email, but I don’t anticipate that orders will be delayed during this time.
- December 23, 2013 – January 5, 2014 – I will not be handmaking fresh products in the lab during this time, but will happily mail in-stock items as orders arrive.
If you’re connected to Just the Goods via Twitter or Facebook, you may already know about a few new products I’ve recently launched. For example, since I started carrying a selection of colour cosmetics by The All Natural Face this past summer, it only made sense to start offering make up brush cleaner, as well. My daily go-to spray can now be yours, completely free of solvents and other petrochemicals! For more information, please click here
The reasons I started carrying The All Natural Face was because so many of you asked about the cosmetics I trust and use. In that spirit, I’m happy to announce that I’ve added another fantastic producer to Just the Goods’ offerings! Suncoat is a Canadian manufacturer of water-based vegan nail polish and sugar-based vegan mascara, and I think its fabulous! To read more about these great products, please click here.
New & Renewed Collaborations
As a small-scale handmaker, I love nothing more than to team up with other handmakers sharing similar interests and values. I developed a huge crush on flora & farmer pickles and jams this past summer, so I’m thrilled that Kim has agreed to co-create a mix n’ match body butter an jam gift set for only $12.00. Please click here for details!
I’m also very happy to announce that I’ve renewed my sponsorship of the truly inspiring raw vegan recipe website, Rawmazing.com, because it continues to be my absolute favourite place to find new, exciting, and delicious food ideas! To celebrate the year ahead, Susan will offer her readers the chance to win a Just the Goods Home and Away set including travel/sample-sized facial care products, toothpaste, hand and body lotion, and lip balm. To find out about when this giveaway will launch, you’re most welcome to sign up for Susan’s newsletter at Rawmazing.com, or join her Facebook Forum. I’ll also announce the start of the giveaway via Facebook and Twitter =-).
Holiday Related Shipping
I am always looking for ways to reduce shipping costs within Canada and beyond, so I’m happy I’ve finally discovered the benefits of shipping via PayPal, which offers reduced rates within Canada. For parcels to the US and elsewhere, I’ve started a commercial shipping account with Canada Post and look forward to offering better value for larger shipments of 500 g or more. This will be especially helpful in insulating against future rises in standard postal rates.
That said, default shipping to the US is still set for 10 day air mail, and default shipping to other destinations worldwide is still set for 4 – 6 week surface mail (both without tracking numbers).
** If you are shopping for the holidays and required delivery by a certain date, I ask that you kindly get in touch with me so I can estimate the cost of expedited delivery services for you, which provides a tracking number and guaranteed delivery within 6 days or 2 weeks, depending on your location. It is important to note that international customs procedures tend to be delayed this time of year due to an increased volume of parcels crossing borders, so it is always helpful to order early and investigate all possible shipping options when time is of the essence. Thanks!! **
